Hugo I. (Chalon-Arlay)

Hugo I of Chalon-Arlay († December 4, 1322 ) was lord of Arlay and of Vitteaux from 1315 .

Live and act

Hugo came from the Chalon-Arlay sideline of the House of Burgundy-Ivrea . He was the son of John I , Lord of Arlay and his wife Margaret of Burgundy († after 1300), a daughter of Duke Hugos IV of Burgundy. The bishop of Basel Johann von Chalon-Arlay was his brother. When his father died in 1315, he inherited the Arlay lordship in the Jura .

Hugo married Beatrix de la Tour du Pin († 1347) in 1302, daughter of Humbert I. Dauphin von Vienne. They had 4 children:

  • Johann II. , Lord of Arlay, Arguel and Cuiseaux ∞ (I) Margarete von Mello († 1360), daughter of Dreux IV. Von Mello; ∞ (II) Marie of Geneva († after 1396), daughter of Count Amadeus III. from Geneva

  • Jacob, Lord of Vitteaux
