Hugo Maradona , full name Hugo Hernán Maradona Franco , (born May 9, 1969 in Lanús , Buenos Aires , † December 27, 2021 in Monte di Procida ) was an Argentine football player .
Personal
The "Turquito", 1.68 meters tall midfielder Hugo Maradona was the youngest brother of Diego Maradona . Hugo Maradona died of a heart attack on December 27, 2021 at his home in Monte di Procida near Naples . He left behind his wife, two daughters and a son.
Player career
society
After he had already belonged to the youth team of the Argentinos Juniors and made his debut on March 16, 1986 in the 3-2 defeat by Boca Juniors in the Primera División , he was at the beginning of his career in the seasons 1985/86 and 1986/87 Squad of the first division team, for which he completed 19 first division games and scored one goal during this period. He then moved to Italy for SSC Napoli , but could not prevail and was awarded to Ascoli Calcio . He was 13 times (no goals) at the club from the region marks 1987/88 in the Serie A used. In the 1988/89 season he played 35 games (six goals) in the Segunda División at Rayo Vallecano and rose with the Spanish club in the Primera División . In the first division season 1989/90 he added 29 league games and three goals to his statistics. In 1990/91 he ran three times (no goal) for Rapid Vienna in the Austrian 1st Bundesliga. In the same season, a station in Venezuela at Deportivo Italia is run for him. In 1992 he played in the Uruguayan Primera División for Club Atlético Progreso . That year he moved to Japan . From then on he was active there for Future Shizuoka in 1992, 1993 and 1994 and scored 31 goals in 49 league appearances. Fukuoka Blux in 1995 (27 games / 27 goals), Avispa Fukuoka in 1996 (21/8) and Consadole Sapporo from 1997 to 1998 (56/15) were his subsequent employers. Club Almirante Brown was his last career station in the 1999/00 season . He ended his career in 1999 when he was playing in the Nacional B club. At the end of his career he had a total of 236 games and 100 goals.
National team
Maradona was a member of the Argentine U-16 selection . With her he won the title at the U-16 South American Championship in 1985 in Argentina. He contributed two goals in the 3-2 win over Brazil. He was also on the Argentine squad at the 1985 U-16 World Cup in the People's Republic of China . There he was used in all three group matches and scored two goals. However, his team was eliminated in the preliminary round.
After an active career / coaching activity
In 2001 he coached as part of a planned comeback at Miami Fusion in Major League Soccer , which ultimately did not take place. That year, Maradona and his wife settled in Boynton Beach , Florida , and opened a bakery in Greenacres . From 2004 to 2006 he coached the Puerto Rico Islanders .
