Hugo Ernst Heinrich Ruehle , also Hugo Ernst Heinrich Rühle , (born September 12, 1824 in Liegnitz , Province of Silesia , † July 11, 1888 in Bonn ) was a German physician .

Life

Hugo was the son of the royal land rent master Ferdinand Rühle (* August 24, 1791 in Manker near Neuruppin; † February 22, 1859 in Liegnitz) and his wife Mathilde Bayer, who was married on May 1, 1820 (* September 18, 1799 in Glogau; † 2 July 1875 in Liegnitz). There are also siblings from the parents' marriage, from whom one knows the brother Otto, the sister Anna, the brother Paul and the brother Franz.

Ruehle studied from 1842 to 1848 in Berlin , where he had close contact with Rudolf Virchow , Benno Reinhardt and Ludwig Traube . After receiving his doctorate in 1846 and taking the state examination in 1848, he continued his education on scientific trips before he came to Breslau in 1849 as a doctor for the poor . In 1851 he became a secondary doctor at the Allerheiligenhospital in Breslau and in 1852 he took up the position of clinical assistant to Friedrich Theodor von Frerichs in the medical clinic. In 1853 he completed his habilitation as a lecturer at the medical faculty with the treatise Investigations on the formation of cavities in tubercular lungs . In 1859 he became the director of the polyclinic and full professor at the University of Breslau . From 1860 to 1864 Ruehle taught clinical medicine at the University of Greifswald and held the post of director of the polyclinic. Hugo von Ziemssen was his assistant. Subsequently, Ruehle accepted an offer in the same position in Bonn, where the later famous physiologist Nathan Zuntz was his assistant doctor. In 1880/81 he was the rector of the university .

In 1880 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .

In 1888 he died as a secret medical advisor in Bonn of pleurisy .

Hugo Rühle married Dorothea (Dora) Margaretha Kästner on September 30, 1857 in Breslau (born April 4, 1831 in Burg / Fehmarn; † April 30, 1907). There are children from the marriage. We know of these:
