The Hume Township is one of 22 townships in Whiteside County in the northwest of the US -amerikanischen state of Illinois . In 2010 the Hume Township had 411 residents.

The Hume Township is located in northwest Illinois at the confluence of the Elkhorn River in the Rock River . The Mississippi , which forms the border with Iowa , is around 50 km to the east; the Wisconsin border is 90 km north.
The Hume Township is located at 41 ° 43'04 "north latitude and 89 ° 47'51" west longitude and extends over 77.95 km², which is spread over 76.4 km² of land and 1.55 km² of water.
The Hume Township is the Whiteside County in the southeastern center and is bordered to the north by the Hopkins Township , on the northeast by the Coloma Township , on the east by the Montmorency Township , on the southeast by the Hahnaman Township , on the south by the Tampico Township , on the west by the Prophetstown Township and in the northwest to the Lyndon Township .

The Interstate 88 , the Quad Cities with Chicago connecting leads in west-east direction by the angle of the northernmost Township. Illinois State Route 172 runs through the southwest of the township . All other roads are county roads or further subordinate and partly unpaved roads.
The Whiteside County Airport is a small airfield around 10 km east of the Hume Township. The nearest major airports are Chicago Rockford International Airport, around 95 km northeast, and Quad City International Airport, around 80 km southwest .
