Coloma Township is located on the south bank of the Rock River in northwest Illinois. The Mississippi , which forms the border with Iowa , is around 40 to the west. The Wisconsin border is 90 km north.
The Coloma Township is located at 41 ° 46'17 "north latitude and 89 ° 41'26" west longitude and extends over 29 km², which is spread over 26.15 km² of land and 2.85 km² of water.
Coloma Township is east of Whiteside County and borders Lee County to the east . Within Whiteside County, Coloma Township is bordered by Montmorency Township in the south, Hume Township in the southwest , Hopkins Township in the west and Sterling Township in the north .

In the extreme southeast, Interstate 88 , the southern bypass of the city of Rock Falls , runs through the Coloma Rownship. Within the township, US Highway 30 crosses Illinois State Route 40 , which crosses the Rock River over a bridge and thus leads out of the township. All other roads are county roads or further subordinate and partly unpaved roads.
The nearest airfield is Whiteside County Airport on the southern outskirts of Rock Falls (about 1 km south of the township); the nearest major airports are Chicago Rockford International Airport, around 85 km northeast, and Quad City International Airport, around 90 km southwest .
