Hunted is a British television series created by former X-Files author Frank Spotnitz for BBC One and HBO's sister station Cinemax . It was first broadcast on October 4, 2012. Actually designed for several seasons, the BBC decided after the broadcast of the first season to get out of the project because the ratings were not satisfactory. Cinemax decided to continue the project under Spotnitz 'direction, which should focus on the main character Sam Hunter ( Melissa George ). To date (as of 2018) this project has not been implemented, which is why the series has eight episodes in one season. It was first broadcast in German on July 4, 2014 on RTL Crime . RTL II included the series in its FreeTV program and has broadcast the episodes since January 13, 2015.

Reception in Germany
Sarah Zimmermann from Die Zeit said: "The series 'Hunted' does not revolutionize the genre of agents. It is still addictive. (...) Accompanied by synthetic tickling, pounding beats and off-screen clock ticking, this concept works dramatically well. So good, that you have to watch episode one episode two. And episode two episode three. "
Anna Meinecke from n-tv was a little more critical of the series: "Maybe Melissa George doesn't play convincingly enough, maybe the script is too bad - in any case, George can't turn a familiar plot into a TV masterclass. But she doesn't have to either. Spies, international conspiracies and terrorism are usually more exciting in reality than in the adaptation of moving images. Why are espionage films so popular anyway? Because they are fun. And that also applies to 'Hunted'. The show ranks among the lavishly produced ones Agent thrillers. With clumsy dialogue, unnecessary sex scenes and explicit depictions of violence, 'Hunted' may not be surprising, but it is good. "
