Polichno (in the regional dialect "Políchno"; Hungarian Parlagos - until 1907 Polichnó ) is a municipality in the south of Slovakia with 129 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Lučenec , a district of the Banskobystrický kraj , and is also part of the traditional Novohrad landscape .
geography
The municipality is located in the Ostrôžky Mountains in a small basin of the Polichniansky potok , in the catchment area of the Ipeľ . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 596 m nm and is 16 kilometers from Lučenec .
Neighboring municipalities are Tuhár in the north in the east, Stará Halič and Halič in the southeast, Praha in the south, Lentvora in the southwest and Ábelová in the west.
history
Polichno probably originated in the 14th century and was first mentioned in writing in 1467 as Polyhna and at that time belonged to the dominion of the Divín Castle . In the second half of the 16th century, the village was part of the Ottoman Empire , more precisely in Sanjak Szécsény . After that it was part of the Halič estate, but temporarily came back to the Divin estate. In 1828 there were 54 houses and 437 inhabitants, whose main sources of income were poorly fertile agriculture and animal husbandry.
Until 1918/1919 the place in Neograd County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Polichno had 145 inhabitants, of whom 138 were Slovaks and 1 each was Magyar and Czech. 5 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity.
58 residents committed themselves to the Evangelical Church AB, 56 residents to the Roman Catholic Church and 12 residents to the Seventh-day Adventists. 5 residents had no denomination and 13 residents had no denomination.
