Mýtna (Hungarian Vámosfalva ) is a municipality in the center of Slovakia with 1198 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Lučenec , a district of the Banskobystrický kraj .
geography
The village is located in the valley of the Krivánsky potok between the Ostrôžky Mountains to the west and the Slovak Ore Mountains to the east and north of the village. The height in the municipal area of 20.28 km² varies from 250 m nm to 800 m nm. The town center is at an altitude of 260 m nm and is 20 kilometers from Lučenec and 38 kilometers from Zvolen .
Neighboring municipalities are Dobroč in the north and east, Lovinobaňa in the south-east, Divín in the south and Píla and Podkriváň in the north-west.
history
The place originated in the 14th century as part of the estate of the Divín castle , was first mentioned in writing in 1393 as Wamuslehutaya and derives its name from a toll station on the road from Altsohl. The lengthy settlement of the valley of the Krivánsky brook lasted from the 15th to the 19th century . In the late 16th century, the village was on the frontline between Royal Hungary and the Ottoman Empire and was occupied by the Turks from 1575–1593. In the 17th century there was a mill and saw, in the 18th century there was a village brewery. In 1828 there were 102 houses and 797 inhabitants who were employed in agriculture and livestock. In 1857 a church school was founded.
Until 1918, the place in Neograd County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. The village has been connected to the public bus network since 1948, and in 1950 the school building for the local elementary school was built.

According to the 2011 census, 1188 inhabitants lived in Mýtna, of which 1050 were Slovaks, three Czechs, two Poles and one Roma, one Russian and one Ukrainian; one resident was of a different ethnicity. 129 residents gave no answer. 490 residents belonged to the Roman Catholic Church, 381 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, 18 residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses, seven residents to the Greek Catholic Church, three residents to the Old Catholic Church, two residents to the Reformed Church and one resident each to the Evangelistic Church and orthodox church; one resident was of a different denomination. 110 inhabitants had no denomination and the denomination of 174 inhabitants was not determined.
