Fiľakovské Kováče (until 1927 "Kováčovce" in Slovak; Fülekkovácsi in Hungarian ) is a municipality in southern Slovakia with 924 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Lučenec , a district of the Banskobystrický kraj .
geography
The community is located at the transition from the valley basin Lučenská kotlina (part of the Juhoslovenská kotlina ) to the Cerová vrchovina mountainous region east and south of the village. The Suchá river flows on the northern edge and flows into the Ipeľ near Fiľakovské Kľačany . The center of the village is at an altitude of 185 m nm and is five kilometers from Fiľakovo and 11 kilometers from Lučenec .
Administratively, the municipality is divided into parts of the municipality Fiľakovské Kľačany (incorporated in 1941, Hungarian Fülekkelecsény ), Fiľakovské Kováče and Kurtáň.
Neighboring municipalities are Nitra nad Ipľom in the north, Prša in the northeast, Fiľakovo in the east and southeast, Ratka in the south, Trebeľovce in the southwest and west and Holiša in the northwest.
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1246 as Cuach and belonged to the estate of the Fileck Castle . In 1546 the village was devastated by the Turks and repopulated in the 17th century. In 1828 there were 37 houses and 325 inhabitants who were employed in agriculture.
The place in Neograd County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia and Slovakia. 1938–1944 he was again in Hungary due to the First Vienna Arbitration .

According to the 2011 census, Fiľakovské Kováče had 908 inhabitants, including 421 Magyars, 368 Slovaks, 76 Roma and three Czechs. 40 residents did not answer. 780 residents belonged to the Roman Catholic Church, 21 residents to the Evangelical Church AB and two residents each to the Evangelical Methodist Church and the Reformed Church. 47 inhabitants were without a denomination and the denomination of 56 inhabitants was not determined.
