Panické Dravce (1927–1948 Slovak “Panitské Dravce” - until 1927 “Pani Darovce”; Hungarian Panyidaróc ) is a municipality in southern Slovakia with 752 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Lučenec , a district of the Banskobystrický kraj , and is also part of the traditional Novohrad landscape .

The municipality is located in the southwest part of the Lučenská kotlina basin , itself part of the larger unit Juhoslovenská kotlina , on the right bank of the Ipeľ , near the border with Hungary . The center of the village is at an altitude of 185  m nm and is five kilometers from Lučenec .

Neighboring municipalities are Lučenec in the north, Mikušovce in the northeast, Rapovce in the east, Kalonda in the south, Veľká nad Ipľom in the southwest, Jelšovec in the west and Halič in the northwest.

history

Trinity Church in Panické Dravce

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1246 as Draus and was named after the royal hunters who accompanied the Hungarian king in the hunting grounds of the old Sohl County. The village was owned by different families, including Daróczy and Madách . Due to the Turkish wars, the village fell into disrepair at the beginning of the 17th century, but was re-established as a settlement around 1680 and reached the size of a village in the 18th century. In 1828 there were 77 houses and 706 inhabitants who were employed as farmers and winemakers.

Until 1918/1919 the place in Neograd County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. Due to the First Vienna Arbitration Award , he was once again part of Hungary from 1938 to 1945.

According to the 2011 census, Panické Dravce had 743 residents, including 438 Slovaks , 263 Magyars , 13 Roma and two Czechs . One resident indicated a different ethnic group and 26 residents gave no information about the ethnic group.

532 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 51 residents to the Brethren , 40 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, four residents to the Apostolic Church, three residents to the Seventh-day Adventists, two residents each to the Greek Catholic Church and the Reformed Church and one resident to the Methodist Church. 65 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 43 residents was not determined.
