action

For Ottilie Giesecke from Berlin, great love is more distant than ever. Freshly left by her friend via SMS, she finally gives in to her father's will and accompanies him for a short trip to the “White Horse Inn” on Lake Wolfgang. Already at the border to the Salzkammergut the world is only sky blue: the sun suddenly breaks out, bliss and almost intrusive courtesy pervade the visitors and residents of Lake Wolfgang. When the dreamy romantic Dr. Otto Siedler then proposes marriage to her out of nowhere, Ottilie is firmly convinced that she has ended up in a kitschy postcard hell among all the weirdos.

In the head waiter of the "White Horse Inn", Leopold, she seems to have found a contact. Because he too has his difficulties with love. His secret lover, the Rössl landlady Josepha, does not want to hear Leopold's feelings and is also about to sell the Rössl to Sigismund Sülzheimer, not knowing that he wants to tear down the hotel out of disappointed love.

Reviews

“As is usually the case in Bollywood films that are completely overloaded with emotions, orgiastic mass choreographies from dirndl ballet dancers with pink feather dusters and checkered waiters are arranged into ornaments of the most glorious nonsense. [...] This is the weirdest fusion of ironic Heimatfilm, surrealist folklore and sappy happy ending that German cinema can produce. "

background

The operetta Im Weißen Rößl from the 1930s is considered to be one of the most successful German pieces of its genre and has been performed throughout Europe, including on Broadway, and has been filmed several times. Diana Amft , Tobias Licht , Armin Rohde , Edita Malovčić and Gregor Bloéb will play directed by Christian Theede and based on a book by Jan Berger . Not only were the set and plot transferred to the present time - the music was also given a new coat of paint. The classics of the Singspiel have been revised and re-produced by Bela B. , Till Brönner and Parov Stelar , among others .

The shooting location was not the original “ White Horse Inn ” like z. B. in the film adaptation Im Weiße Rößl (1960) with Peter Alexander , but St. Gilgen at the north-western end of the lake.
