The Krivánsky potok (more rarely Lučenský potok ) is a 40 km long river in the south of central Slovakia .

The river rises on the edge of the Ostrôžky Mountains at an altitude of approx. 670 m near the hamlet Budínske lazy , which administratively belongs to the municipality of Budiná . For the first few kilometers, the stream flows west, then north-east to the village of Podkriváň , before turning south-east. In the further course the Krivánsky potok separates the mountains Ostrôžky and Veporské vrchy and flows through Píla and Mýtna , where it feeds a small reservoir. Then the stream reaches Lovinobaňa , takes the Budínsky potok to the right , before reaching the Lučenská kotlina basin near Podrečany (part of Juhoslovenská kotlina ). After passing the towns of Tomášovce and Vidiná , the river reaches the town of Lučenec and separates the town proper from the left bank districts of Opatová and Malá Ves. There the largest tributary, the right bank Tuhársky potok , flows into the Krivánsky potok. In Mikušovce he takes nor the left bank Slatinka on before going into the Ipeľ , opposite the mouth of the creek Babský , opens.

Between Podkriváň and Lučenec the 1st order road 16 and part of the Salgótarján – Vrútky railway run parallel to the river.
