Images of individual monastery buildings

The village was founded in 1600 with the construction of a monastery, which was founded by monks from Mount Athos with the permission of the head of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra . They built the Hustynskyj Monastery ( Густинський монастир ) here until 1675, financed by Hetman Ivan Samojlowytsch , between the dense forest (hence the place name) and an island in the flood plain of the Udaj , and consecrated it in honor of the Holy Trinity .

The Orthodox Monastery is a unique architectural complex of the 17th century Baroque , and one of the most beautiful in the left bank of Ukraine . Taras Shevchenko made several watercolor sketches of the monastery during a visit to the monastery in 1845.
