Hyundai 2530 TEU refers to a type of ship from the Korean shipyard Hyundai Heavy Industries . The series of full container ships was built by Hyundai and STX Shipbuilding from 2001. STX Shipbuilding further developed the type to the STX 2,600 TEU improved with a slightly higher container capacity. A total of 25 units of the type were delivered by the various shipyards of the two companies. A large part of the ships were from the Hamburg shipping group Schulte Group commissioned and by Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement bereedert .

The ships of the original type are powered by a seven - cylinder two - stroke diesel engine from the manufacturer Wärtsilä - Sulzer . The main 7RTA72U-B engines, built under license in Korea by Hyundai Engine & Machinery, have an output of 21,560 kW . They act directly on the shaft and drive a fixed propeller . The ships can thus reach a speed of around 21 knots . In the bow there is a transverse thruster control system with an output of 1000 kW.
There are four generators from MAN B&W Diesel (type: 8L28 / 32 H) on board for the power supply . The generators each have an apparent power of 2000 kVA. The MAN emergency generator has an apparent power of 188 kVA.
The ships of the type further developed by STX are equipped with engines of other types. The Daedong Shipbuilding Company, under whose name one of the ships was built, is now part of STX as STX Shipbuilding.
The ships of the original type have a container capacity of 2,530 TEU or 1,212 FEU and 86 TEU. The ships of the further developed type have a container capacity of 2,602 TEU. With a homogeneous loading with 14 t heavy containers 1,850 TEU or 1,853 TEU can be loaded. There are 600 connections for refrigerated containers. Up to 12 containers can be stowed side by side and up to five layers on top of each other on deck.
The superstructures are in the rear quarter of the ship. There are ten container bays in front of the superstructures, and two more behind them. The ships have their own loading gear . Three of the 45 t lifting ship cranes are arranged between bays 2 and 3, 6 and 7 and 8 and 9. The fourth crane is located directly behind the deckhouse.
Trivia
A ship of the original type, the Anna Schulte , was the first regular ship to call at the deep-water port JadeWeserPort in September 2012 . At that time, the ship was chartered by the Danish liner shipping company Mærsk Line.
