I'm on Fire is a Bruce Springsteen song that was both written and produced by him, Steven Van Zandt , Jon Landau and Chuck Plotkin.

history

The song was recorded as the first track for the album Born in the USA in February 1982 . After Springsteen tried a slow guitar solo, he got the idea for the lyrics of the song I'm on Fire . During the recording he played guitar, Max Weinberg played drums and Roy Bittan played synthesizer . The song is about sexual pleasure.

The album Born in the USA was released on June 4, 1984, with the single from I'm on Fire released on February 6, 1985. The song made it into the top ten in the United States , and became a number one hit in Ireland and the Netherlands .

Music video

The music video was directed by John Sayles , who also directed the video Born in the USA . At the beginning of the clip, Bruce Springsteen is fixing another car until he meets a young woman who hires him to fix her Ford Thunderbird . After he has repaired the car and it is evening, Springsteen brings the car to the lady. Arriving in front of her house, he is too shy to knock, finally throws the key in the mailbox and goes home.

The music video was at the MTV Video Music Awards 1985 in the category Best Male Video award.
