history
Early years
IFK Ystad was founded in 1927. After promotion to the third division in 1955, the team established itself at this level of play. At times represented in the promotion race, the team prevailed in 1963 with five points ahead of Råå IF and rose to the second division for the first time. Placed fifth in the table, initially in the middle of the table, the club played against relegation in the following years. After four years of membership in the league, he was relegated and accompanied IFK Kristianstad , Gunnarstorps IF and Hässleholms IF when going into the third division. As a relegated team, the team was in the top third of the table at the end of the season, but was six points behind the promoted IK Atleten from Landskrona . In the 1969 season, the team dominated their third division season with 19 wins in 22 games and distanced the table runner-up Trelleborgs FF by nine points.
In the second division, the IFK Ystad footballers just missed relegation, while their tied competitor IS Halmia held the class due to the better goal difference . This time the team managed to win the relay before Höganäs BK , but had to fight for promotion in a newly introduced promotion round. She won the group against Hässleholms IF and Kalmar AIK . The subsequent second division season was again unsuccessful, as the three second division relays were merged into two divisions and therefore four teams were relegated - the club was fourth from bottom of Division 2 Södra .
Modern times
After relegation, IFK Ystad held most of the time in the middle of the table of his third division season, but as the season winner 1976, the club missed in the promotion games as group bottom behind Mjällby AIF , IFK Ulricehamn and Västra Frölunda IF the promotion . In 1981 the club finally rose from the fourth division. At first, as second only just barely missing the promotion twice, the club said goodbye to higher-class football after being downgraded as part of a league reform in 1986.
