action

The inhabitants of the town of Fartown live in an atmosphere of fear, as they are terrorized by a band of hired bandits and murderers, behind whom stands a stranger who wants to get hold of the property in the entire area cheaply; those who refuse will ultimately be shot. All the city's dignitaries behave obsequiously; Sheriff Brady alone tries to uphold a remnant of legality. His wife cheats on him with the obscure Senator Harper. She is also behind the crimes.

Young Spider Kendall is in love with Brady's daughter; Mrs. Harper engages the sadistic pistol hero Sam Dollar to stop this liaison. Dollar kidnaps and kills Brady's daughter. The sheriff and the young cowboy team up and clean up with the gang and finally with Dollar, which Kendall can shoot in a duel. Law and order in Fartown are restored.

criticism

"Average, but unusually tough spaghetti westerns."

"Wild West film of the classic form, which brings little new, but the old packaged in an acceptable way, even if without brilliance."

Christian Keßler says: The film makes an action-packed, serious impression, even if the early year it was made prevents the film from being as nihilistic as Nostro's later Uno dopo l'altro .

Remarks

The Spanish title is Un Dolar de fuego , the English title Epitaph for a fast gun .

As in many Italian films of the time, almost all of the actors hide behind English-sounding pseudonyms.
