The IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems is a university of applied sciences in Lower Austria . In 2020 it will have 32  courses , 3,000 students, 560 teachers and over 140 partner universities in 50 countries. At three Krems locations, it offers bachelor's and master's degrees in the fields of economics, health sciences, digitization & technology and life sciences. The studies can be completed full-time and partly also part-time. In addition, continuing education courses in the areas of languages ​​and hospital hygiene are offered. The abbreviation IMC stands for "International Management Center" and denotes the sponsoring company from 1994 to 2002.

In 1994, the institution began operations with the English-language diploma course "Tourism and Leisure Management".

In 1999, a further training opportunity was offered with the diploma course "Export-Oriented Management EU-ASEAN-NAFTA". In 2001, the courses in “Health Management” and “Corporate Management & E-Business Management” were opened for SMEs. The second was offered part-time for the first time in 2002. In the same year, the "Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology" course began operations. The biotechnology center was opened for this in March 2003. In April 2002 the training facility was awarded the title of “University of Applied Sciences” by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Culture.

In September 2003, the second part-time diploma course “Health Management” started with 30 students.

In 2005 the second location was opened in Krems - the FH wings D and G on the new campus. Since 2006 the courses “Physiotherapy” and “Midwives” have been offered. In 2008 the bachelor's degree “Advanced Nursing Practice” started, and since 2009 “Music Therapy” can be studied. In May 2011 the foundation stone was laid for the “Trakt G1” building on the Krems campus.

Since September 2011, five master’s courses have been added: “Marketing & Sales”, “Management of Healthcare Companies”, “Corporate Management for SMEs”, “Management” and “Regulatory Affairs”. The bachelor's degree in occupational therapy was also launched. A year later, the bachelor's degree programs in “Health and Nursing” and the master’s degree in “Environmental and Sustainability Management” and “Music Therapy” started operations. Since September 2014, “Business Administration” has also been offered as a bachelor's degree, and since September 2015 the “International Wine Business” bachelor's degree. In September 2017, the master's degree in "Digital Business Innovation and Transformation" started.

From autumn 2018 there will be three new courses: The English-language Bachelor course "Applied Chemistry" and the two master courses in the health sector "Advanced Nursing Practice" and "Applied Health Sciences".

In autumn 2019, the English-language bachelor's degree "Informatics" was introduced.

Awards

Spring 2016: In the EU-initiated "U-Multirank", a global university ranking that compares around 1,500 universities and colleges worldwide as of 2017, the IMC FH Krems received the top grade in the categories of student mobility, international staff and non-German-language studies .

Spring 2016: The English-language bachelor's and master's courses in "Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology" at the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems landed 17 times in the CHE ranking, in which 300 universities and universities of applied sciences in German-speaking countries are rated according to different criteria in the various categories to be assessed Top group.

Accreditations

Evaluation Agency Baden-Württemberg (evalag): evalag , an international quality assurance agency based in Baden-Württemberg , has certified the internal quality management of IMC FH Krems. On the basis of the University Quality Assurance Act, every university is obliged to undergo an external audit within six years.

The "Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology" course at IMC Krems University of Applied Sciences has been awarded the seal of quality by ASIIN , an accreditation agency for courses in engineering, computer science, natural sciences and mathematics. The IMC FH Krems is the first Austrian university with an ASIIN accreditation.

The research activities of the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems are supported by research grants or companies. The “Josef Ressel Center for Personalized Therapy” should be mentioned as an example of a research activity that is supported by a research grant. The “Research Institute for Applied Bioanalytics and Drug Development” focuses primarily on contract research for companies. In the Business Department, the research group “CSR and Innovation” is funded by a large research fund and is internationally recognized for its results.
