ISS A / S is a listed Danish service group based in Copenhagen . The company sees itself as a general contractor in the field of facility management , the maintenance of buildings and systems. In addition to technical building management, cleaning and catering, other services include security services as well as reception and telephone services. The name ISS has had alternating meanings since the company was founded and today stands for "International Service System". The company operates in 77 countries.

history

The story goes back to the company Kjøbenhavn-Frederiksberg Nattevagt , a small Copenhagen security company founded in 1901 . This was renamed De forenede Vagtselskaber in 1918, which resulted in a cleaning company called Det Danske Rengøringsselskab (DDRS) in 1934 . Another company, International Sanitary Systems (ISS), was founded in 1968. This changed its name to International Service System in 1973 and at the same time became the parent company for its international acquisitions.

In 2005, ISS was taken over by a consortium of financial investors EQT and Goldman Sachs Capital Partners for a price of DKK 470 per share (DKK 30 billion), with the delisting of the listing on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange .

In mid-2011 the British G4S plc and ISS announced in a joint interview with the then G4S CEO Nick Buckles and the ISS President Jeff Gravenhorst that the G4S would take over the ISS for 5.2 billion British pounds. This would have created by far the world's largest company for security and facility management services with over a million employees and a turnover of over 20 billion euros. However, the takeover was canceled at the beginning of November 2011 because the G4S Board of Management had failed to obtain the approval of the company's shareholders in advance and they subsequently refused to give their consent.

Another IPO was postponed several times, but was then implemented in 2014. The company has been listed on the NASDAQ again since March 13, 2014 .
