I See the Light is a song from the movie Rapunzel - New Feels . It was written by Alan Menken (music) and Glenn Slater (text). It was sung by Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi . In the German version, the title is Finally I see the light , the song is sung by Pia Allgaier and Manuel Straube .

Use in film

As Rapunzel and Flynn Rider experience the annual Lantern Festival from a rowboat on the lake, they realize they love each other. This is told with I See the Light .

Awards

I See the Light was in 2011 for the Oscar and the Golden Globe each in the category Best Original Song nomination, but lost the Oscar to We Belong Together from the movie Toy Story 3 and Golden Globe against You Have not Seen the Last of Me from the movie Burlesque . In 2012, the song won a Grammy for Best Song Written For Visual Media . In 2010 it was nominated for the OFTA Award in the Best Original Song category and in 2011 for the World Soundtrack Award in the Best Song Written for a Film category, but lost both times to We Belong Together . The nomination for the Critics' Choice Award 2011 in the category Best Song was also unsuccessful, it won If I Rise from 127 Hours . In contrast, the Las Vegas Film Critics Society Award (also Sierra Award ) 2010 was won in the Best Song category .

I See the Light has been covered by Jackie Evancho , Shannon Saunders , Anaïs Delva (title: Je veux y croire ), David Harris and Lucy Durack , as well as by Peter Hollens and his wife Evynne Hollens.

A cover version of Monrose with the title Endlich ich see das Licht even made it into the credits of the German version of the film.
