I Tarzan, you Jane!
I Tarzan, you Jane! was a talent show on Sat.1 together with the musical tour operators Stage Entertainment , which took place from February 2008 to May 2008. We were looking for the two main actors for the Disney musical Tarzan , which was performed live eight times a week in the Neue Flora in Hamburg from October 2008 to October 2013 . The apparent dialogue quote (" Me Tarzan, you Jane ") did not appear in the film Tarzan, the ape-man to which the musical relates. Johnny Weissmüller jokingly told a reporter about the fictional dialogue in 1932 during an interview.
The Tarzan musical in the Netherlands was preceded by a similar show ( Wie Wordt Tarzan? ) On SBS 6 , a ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG broadcaster , in which the Tarzan actor was to be selected from five male candidates. In Germany it was the first time that one or more leading roles in a musical were determined by a casting show.
After a preliminary round, further eliminations took place in weekly live broadcasts. Every week a jury determined different pairs of actors who had to present themselves on stage with singing and playing. The most popular performers were determined by televoting . The two male and two female actors with the fewest calls had to sing together again at the end of the show, and the jury decided who was allowed to continue participating in the next show or who had to leave the show. The final decision was always made by the jury, the calls from the audience only served as an opinion. actually they should also serve to increase revenue. Only the very last decision between the last two female and the last two male candidates was made directly through the televoting. In contrast to other casting shows, almost all of the participants were trained as musical performers, and some of them were already full-time active on musical stages.
The show was hosted by Hugo Egon Balder . The show was produced by Eyeworks.
The live band was the Martin Ernst AllStars , who have been working with Balder since his time at RTL Saturday Night .
Anton Zetterholm and Elisabeth Hübert won the show.
