history

The place was on a connecting road from Roman times between today's Augsburg and Regensburg on which salt was transported. "Hügenhausen" was mentioned for the first time in the Chronicle of Augsburg in 1100 and at that time belonged to the Count Palatine von Schiegen-Wittelsbach. Hügenhausen was sold to the Fürstenfeld monastery on June 15, 1326 . The Catholic parish of Sankt Michael in Igenhausen belongs to the deanery Aichach-Friedberg in the diocese of Augsburg. The parish also includes Hirschbach, Sankt Georg and five Schönbach properties .

Until January 1, 1971, Igenhausen and its districts belonged to the district of Aichach as an independent municipality and was then incorporated into the municipality of Hollenbach as part of the regional reform in Bavaria .
