Ignaz Krepp
Ignaz Krepp (born July 19, 1801 in Vienna ; † June 4, 1853 there ) was an Austrian copper and steel engraver .
From June 27, 1814 he studied at the Vienna Art Academy with Karl Gsellhofer and Hubert Maurer . Krepp also studied ancient art with Franz Caucig .
Krepp initially worked as a copper engraver in Blasius Höfel 's company, and later became an employee of Franz Xaver Stöber .
He created portraits and genre representations in copper and steel engraving based on models by Josef Kriehuber , Franz Eybl , Johann Ender , Anton Einsle , Friedrich von Amerling , Leander Russ as well as masters of the Renaissance and Baroque. He also illustrated books.
His son Friedrich Krepp (* 1829) studied at the Vienna Art Academy from 1842, mainly painting religious history pictures and portraits.
