Igor Davidovich Oistrakh ( Ukrainian Ігор Давидович Ойстрах Ihor Dawydowytsch Oistrakh , Russian Игорь Давидович Ойстрах ., Scientific transliteration Igor Oistrakh Davidovič * 27. April 1931 in Odessa ) is a Russian - Ukrainian violinist .
Life
Igor Oistrach is the son of David Oistrach and one of his father's most important students.
Education
Like his father, he started playing the violin when he was 6 years old . He took lessons from Valeri Merenblum and Pyotr Stoljarsky and studied at the Moscow Conservatory in the master class of his famous father David, with whom he formed a celebrated duo for a quarter of a century. In 1947 they gave their first joint concert with Bach's D minor concerto and Mozart's Sinfonia concertante, which became the hallmark of making music together.
Concert career
He made his debut in the western world at the Royal Albert Hall . Concert tours followed through the USA, Europe, Russia, Canada, South America, Japan and Australia. He has performed with the most important orchestras and conductors in the world and has given concerts with Pablo Casals and Yehudi Menuhin . Since 1968 he has also worked as an orchestra conductor and violist .
Prizes and awards
Igor Oistrach won first prizes at the international competition in Budapest in 1949 and at the International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition in Poznan in 1952 .
For the recording of the complete Beethoven - Sonatas together with his wife, the pianist Natalia Serzalowa, the artist couple in 1970 with the honorary membership of the was the Beethoven-Haus in Bonn excellent. Ariola-Eurodisc was awarded the Viennese Flute Clock for recording all of Mozart's violin sonatas with them as interpreters .
Educational activity
Since 1996 Igor Oistrach has been a professor at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels . His son Valeri Oistrach (born September 19, 1961), also a well-known violinist, continues the family tradition in the third generation.
Many of his students are now important artists, including the Slovak-Austrian violin soloist Jela Špitková .
