Igor Flach (born March 12, 1966 in Jena ; † March 8, 2008 in Berlin ) was a German musician and blues harp player. Flach was considered one of the best "all-category harp players". Originally inspired by the authentic blues, it later did not feel part of any musical genre, played rock, folk or country music and offered excellent African, Greek and Russian live acts. Flach was characterized by an unconventional manner, a hypnotic rhythm and an intoxicating melody play. He convinced with a special way of playing by playing the harmonica while inhaling and exhaling with a technique of his own.

Act

Flach learned to play the harmonica by himself at the age of ten . He was inspired by Stefan Diestelmann and the French blues harp player Jean-Jacques Milteau . After an apprenticeship as a watchmaker , he joined the Jonathan Blues Band in 1984 and began his career as a professional musician. In the East Berlin blues scene he got to know Hans the violin . With his support, Flach composed and produced German-language blues songs. The lyrics were from Michael Sellin . From 1987 to 1989 he played with Passat , appeared as a guest musician with Pankow and the Tino Standhaft Band and was involved in the recording of various long-playing records.

Since the 1990s, Flach was mainly active as a soloist, touring the USA, France and Russia and was involved in the production of various CDs as a guest. In the early 1990s he had several guest appearances with Stefan Diestelmann and made music together with the Yardbirds , Alicia Levy , Louisiana Red , the Uwe-Ochsenknecht-Band , Abi Wallenstein , Buzz Dee (now Knorkator ), Rudi Howard and Guitar Crusher .

Together with Stefan Strahli Strahl he founded the Niel Jang Band, a German-speaking Neil Young cover band, and was a member of Gospel Unlimited . Until his death, he worked closely with Uwe Bluesrudi Haase as the duo "Igor Flach & Bluesman Rudi".

Flach recorded six solo albums between 1994 and 2004. He was one of the sponsors of the music festival "Harmonica live" in Klingenthal, worked as a lecturer in various workshops at the "Musik-Akademie Markneukirchen eV" and ran a harp shop.

He became the father of two daughters with his partner. After suffering from a heart condition, the musician died a few days before his 42nd birthday as a result of the serious surgery in the intensive care unit at the Berlin Heart Center.
