Iliza Shlesinger
Iliza Shlesinger (born February 22, 1983 in Texas ) is an American stand-up comedian , author and presenter . She is the only female and youngest stand-up comedian to win the NBC casting show Last Comic Standing . The men's magazine Esquire lists her as one of the best comedians in the USA.
Career
After graduating from Emerson College , Iliza Shlesinger began her career as a stand-up comedian in Los Angeles with the booking agency Whiteboy Comedy , which brought her to the stage of the comedy club The Improv .
In 2007, she won the MySpace contest So You Think You're Funny and became the Myspace Girl of the Week of the TV channel G4 .
In 2008, Shlesinger became the first female and youngest comedian to win the sixth season of the NBC casting show Last Comic Standing .
Her one-hour debut comedy show War Paint made it to number 1 on the iTunes charts and one of the top 10 albums of 2013. The show was broadcast on Netflix . Shlesinger also produced the comedy shows Freezing Hot (2015) and Confirmed Kills (2016) for Netflix . The new Elder Millenial (2018) program is also available on Netflix.
In addition to her own tours , Shlesinger is on stage at events such as the Just For Laughs Festival and The New York Comedy Festival .
In addition, she hosted the show for TheStream.tv The Weakly News , for CBS , the show Excused Excused and TBS , the show Separation Anxiety .
For ABC she wrote the miniseries Forever 31 , for which a second season has now been announced. Another format in which Shlesinger will act as producer and screenwriter is planned for ABC. She is currently developing a late night show for the US television station Freeform , which is part of ABC .
From 2014 to 2016 Shlesinger ran a podcast under the name Truth and Iliza .
In the 2013 film Paradise , Shlesinger plays alongside stars like Julianne Hough , Russell Brand and Octavia Spencer .
Shlesinger has appeared on television shows such as NBC's Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon , The Today Show , Comedy Central , Hollywood Game Night , Chelsea Lately , Arsenio, and Late Night with Carson Daly .
In 2017, her first book, Girl Logic: The Genius and the Absurdity, was published by Weinstein Books.
