Ilpo Salmivirta

Ilpo Salmivirta (born October 17, 1983 in Mänttä ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Dragons de Rouen in the French Ligue Magnus since 2009 .

Career

Ilpo Salmivirta began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of Tappara Tampere , for whose professional team he was active from 2004 to 2006 in the SM-liiga , the top Finnish league. At the same time he was on loan in the second-rate Mestis for Kiekko-Vantaa , Forssan Palloseura , HCK Salamat , KooKoo and Mikkelin Jukurit . With Jukurit he won the Mestis championship in 2006. After he had spent the 2006/07 season at Vaasan Sport in the Mestis, the winger moved to the Image Club d'Épinal from the French Ligue Magnus . In Épinal he stayed for two years before moving to the top team Dragons de Rouen within the top French division . With Rouen he won the French championship three times in a row in 2010, 2011 and 2012 . He also won the Coupe de la Ligue and the Trophée des Champions with his team in 2010 and the Coupe de France in 2011 . At European level, he won the IIHF Continental Cup with the Dragons de Rouen in the 2011/12 season .
