Im Letsch is a district in the Refrath district of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
The current name of the street Im Letsch is based on the old `` Gewannen '' name of the same name , which is recorded in the original cadastre north of Vürels . There are different approaches to interpreting the field name. First, Letsch is interpreted as sand that was washed up and then dried. After that, the name of the corridor would refer to the nature of the soil found everywhere in Refrath. Second, Letsch can be traced back to the Middle High German last (= hindrance, inhibition, protective weir, border fortification) and indicates a protective system. Thirdly, the word Letsch could have been formed from the dialect Cologne verb letsche (= glitschen, glleiten), which in etymology is the Middle High German lihte (= smooth). Consequently, it would be a slippery or wet-swampy terrain.
