Beningsfeld is a district in the Refrath district of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
The high medieval settlement name Beningsfeld is recorded in the original cadastre as Penningsfeld . The medieval court was established by the Gladbach Fronhof at the instigation of the Count von Berg . By the 17th century, two farms had already developed from the establishment of the settlement: the Gut am Benesfeld and the Gut am untersten Benesfeld .
The name of the settlement Beningsfeld allows various interpretations. First of all, the defining word Benings can be traced back to the Old High German "binuz" (= binse ). That would mean that there is a Binsfeld with bent grass and Erika has passed. According to the documents in the parish archives, the name could also be traced back to Saint Benignus . After all, according to the Pennings spelling, it could hide an interest levy or currency.
Sewage treatment plant
The wastewater from the entire city of Bergisch Gladbach is biologically treated in the Beningsfeld sewage treatment plant. This creates optimal living conditions for the microorganisms. Finally, the treated wastewater flows through an outlet structure into the Cologne Rand Canal on the right bank of the Rhine and after approx. 15 km into the Rhine near Cologne-Stammheim .
