history

The name Niedenhof refers to the establishment of a settlement in the Middle Ages , which the original cadastre lists as Im Niedenhof am Vurfelser Bach in the area of today's Niedenhof street . The Niedenhof was originally documented as the Köttersgut of the Vürelser Hof for the year 1164 in the form of de Nede . The qualifier Nieden has been formed from the Old High German nida [i] (= below, lower, deep) or the Middle High German nidene / niden (= below, hernieden). It thus refers to the location of the farm in a valley on the Vürelser Bach .

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Porz , proves that the residential area was categorized as a courtyard in 1715 and was called Niedenhof .

From the chart of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 by Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking it emerges that Niedenhof was part of the Refrath honor in the parish of Bensberg at that time .

Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813, the Porz office was dissolved and Niedenhof was politically assigned to Mairie Bensberg in the canton of Bensberg . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Bensberg in the Mülheim am Rhein district .

The place is recorded on the Prussian first recording from 1840 as Niederhof . From the Prussian new admission in 1892, it is regularly recorded as Niedenhof or without a name on measuring table sheets .

Due to the Cologne Act , the city of Bensberg was merged with Bergisch Gladbach to form the city of Bergisch Gladbach with effect from January 1, 1975. Niedenhof also became part of Bergisch Gladbach.
