Vürels is a district in the Refrath district of Bergisch Gladbach .

history

The settlement name Vürels is made up of the Old High German for [a] or the Middle High German before [e] (= before / preposition ) and the Old High German felt / feld or Middle High German velt (= field, soil, area). It means the high moth ( Motte Kippekausen ) west upstream apron.

The name Vürels picks up on the establishment of a settlement in the Middle Ages , which the original cadastre lists as Im Vürels north of the Vürelser Bach . The settlement of Vürels has developed from the great [n] Hoff to Vurfelt . This stood in the High Middle Ages under the rule of Count Dietrich von Meer (1078–1107) as an independent manor .

The workers necessary for the cultivation lived in the surrounding Köttergüter. In 1692 the farm became the property of the Catholic parish of Bensberg . She transferred the work to a tenant. Until the 19th century the settlement developed into a typical street village with houses on both sides.

The Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies , Blatt Amt Porz , shows that the residential area was categorized as Vielhof in 1715 and given the name Cube .

Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as a cube . It shows that at that time Vürels was part of the Refrath honor in the parish of Bensberg .

Under French administration between 1806 and 1813, the Porz office was dissolved and Vürels was politically assigned to Mairie Bensberg in the canton of Bensberg . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Bensberg in the Mülheim am Rhein district .

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 as Fürfels and on the Prussian first survey from 1840 as Vürels . On the Prussian new recording from 1892 he is listed with Fürvels .
