Vürelser Kaule is a district in the Refrath district of Bergisch Gladbach .

history

The name Vürelser Kaule was based on the old name Auf der Vürelser Kaule , which is recorded in the original cadastre in the area of today's street. The Vürelser Kaule settlement was owned by the Vürelser Hof, which in the early modern period was also called the Großjahnsgut auff der Kaulen . The basic word Kaule is derived from the Middle High German Kule (= pit) and denotes both an artificially created depression for the extraction of stones, ores or soil as well as a natural sink. Since quarries for lime extraction were operated in many places in Refrath, it will have been similar here.

From the Prussian new admission in 1892, it is regularly recorded without a name on measuring table sheets .

Due to the Cologne Act , the city of Bensberg was merged with Bergisch Gladbach to form the city of Bergisch Gladbach with effect from January 1, 1975. At the same time Vürelser Kaule became part of Bergisch Gladbach.
