Inês de Saint-Maurice de Esteves de Medeiros Victorino d'Almeida (born April 15, 1968 in Vienna , Austria ) is a Portuguese actress and politician .

biography

She was born in Vienna, where her father António Victorino de Almeida was cultural attaché at the Portuguese embassy . She has lived in Lisbon since 1975 . Like her sister Maria de Medeiros , she became an actress both in theater (since 1985) and in film. She first appeared in front of the camera in A Culpa (1980), her father's film.

From 1986 she studied Portuguese literature and philosophy at the Universidade Nova in Lisbon and took lessons in opera singing. She studied theater at the Sorbonne in Paris, where she still lives today.

She starred in about 30 films, including a. by Paulo Rocha (co-founder of the Novo Cinema ), João Botelho , José Álvaro Morais , António da Cunha Telles and João César Monteiro . She also played in French, Belgian and Portuguese television productions. Most recently she began directing her own films.

She is a member of the Partido Socialista (PS) and was the organizer of the presidential candidacy of Jorge Sampaio in 1996. Since 2009 she has been a member of parliament and vice-president of the PS group in the Portuguese parliament . In 2010 she survived political controversies about her publicly paid flights between Paris and Lisbon.
