Indrek Sirel
Indrek Sirel (born January 16, 1970 in Tallinn ) is an Estonian officer with the rank of major general . He has been the Deputy Commander of the Estonian Armed Forces since July 18, 2016 .

Indrek Sirel was born in 1970 in Tallinn, the capital of the then Estonian SSR .

After training as an officer and serving as a platoon leader in the Red Army , Indrek Sirel joined the Estonian armed forces in 1993. There he found in the next few years, first as commander of various infantry - companies use and attended further education abroad. During this time he also took on various staff positions at the headquarters of the armed forces.
Since the beginning of the 2000s he was primarily entrusted with tasks in the headquarters and in 2004 he was assigned to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). From 2005 to 2006 he served as the commander of the Scout Battalion. In October 2006 he took over the post of Chief of Staff of the Estonian Army and in April 2008 the post of Commander in Chief of the Army (previously acting as Chief of Staff). During this use, he received a masters degree from the United States Army War College in 2009 .
In June 2012 he was promoted to brigadier general. In the same year he handed over command of the land forces to Artur Tiganik . Sirel himself worked for the Allied Joint Force Command in Brunssum for the next few years . After returning to Estonia, he took over the post of Deputy Commander of the Estonian Armed Forces in July 2016. As part of the annual promotions for the anniversary of the establishment of the Estonian Republic, he was promoted to major general in February 2018.
