Inge Debelts

Inge Debelts (born February 16, 1932 in Stollhamm , Free State of Oldenburg ; † January 24, 2019 in Nordenham ) was a German theater actress , theater director and author who published mostly in Low German .

Life

Growing up in Nordenham, Inge Debelts wanted to become an actress at an early age. After finishing high school and higher commercial school , however, she first did a commercial apprenticeship .

Debelts fulfilled her wish to act in 1967. She became an amateur actress at the Low German stage "Waterkant" , which belongs to the Bremerhaven City Theater , where she played for a total of 17 years. In 1981 Debelts and her family moved back to their homeland in Nordenham, where two years later she was one of the founders of the Low German stage “De Plattdütschen” . In the following years she made a name for herself as a director and author far beyond the borders of the Wesermarsch . Her plays in Low and High German are performed all over Germany. She also wrote Low German poems and short stories .

Inge Debelts was married and had two children.
