Ingo Niermann (* 1969 in Bielefeld ) is a German writer , journalist and artist .

Life

Ingo Niermann studied philosophy and made her debut in 2001 with the novel The Effect . In 1999 he contributed a story to the volume Mesopotamia (Ed. Christian Kracht ). In 2003 Minusvisionen was published , a chronicle of failed company start-ups, and in 2006 rebuilding land . The latter includes ten "provocative" proposals for radical reform in Germany, including nuclear armament, as well as the demand for land reform through agricultural cultivation in allotment garden colonies.

In 2010 the novel Deutscher Sohn was published , written together with Alexander Wallasch , about a Bundeswehr soldier injured in an attack in Afghanistan.

Niermann worked as a freelance writer for the Süddeutsche Zeitung and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung . In 2004 he was one of the curators of the Atomic War exhibition at Kunsthaus Dresden . In 2007, the implementation of the Great Pyramid project , which Niermann had outlined in his book Umbauland , began. In September the symbolic foundation stone was laid on a field near Streetz / Saxony-Anhalt . Niermann revisits the idea of ​​building a pyramid in a modified form in his documentary The Future of Art (2010), which he produced with Erik Niedling .

Since 2008 Niermann has been the editor of the Solution series, which is published by Sternberg Press. In 2013, together with Mathias Gatza and Henriette Gallus, he founded Fiktion , a model project funded by the German Federal Cultural Foundation that seeks to further develop the opportunities that digitization opens up for the perception and dissemination of sophisticated literature.

Niermann has been working with filmmaker Alexa Karolinski since 2016 . Their joint film Army of Love premiered at the 9th Berlin Biennale and has since been shown in exhibitions at the Center Pompidou , MACBA , Castello di Rivoli as well as at the CCCB and the Wiesbaden Biennale. Her second film Oceano de Amor (2020) was part of a three-month exhibition at the Auto Italia gallery in London.
