The Ingoda ( Russian Ингода ) is the left, 708 km long headwaters of the Shilka in Transbaikalia , Russia .

It rises in the Chentii Mountains not far from the border with Mongolia . From there it flows in a northerly, later northeast direction through a wide valley between the Jablonowy Mountains and the Tscherski Mountains . At Tschita it turns to the southeast, breaks through the main ridge of the Tscherski Mountains and after another 150 kilometers in an easterly direction joins the Onon to form the Schilka.

The lower reaches of the Ingoda are navigable .

history

On December 5, 2008, a MiG-29 fighter plane crashed just 700 meters from the town of Ingoda of the same name, located on the river . The pilot was killed.
