Ingrid Hamm (* 1955 in Nuremberg ) is a German communication and social scientist , economist and manager.

Life

Ingrid Hamm studied social sciences and economics at the Faculty of Law and Economics of the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg and graduated in 1980 with a degree in social economics . From 1981 she worked as a research assistant at the Social Science Research Center of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. There she conducted research for seven years on various media and social science topics, including for the German Research Foundation and for public and private broadcasters. In 1984 she received her doctorate in social sciences (Dr. rer. Pol.).

In 1988 she moved to the Bertelsmann Stiftung , where she was head of the department and later headed the foundation's socio-political initiatives in the media sector. Her other focal points included media policy , media ethics and media education . Until 2000, she simultaneously worked as a freelance journalist and was in the same year a member of the Executive Board of the Bertelsmann Foundation. In 1998 she also took over the management of the New York office. At the same time, she was responsible for establishing the MCM Institute for Media and Communication Management at the University of St. Gallen , the Media Academy in Cologne and the re-establishment of the Academy of German Media , then the Academy of the German Book Trade , in Munich.

In 2003 she moved to the Robert Bosch Stiftung as managing director . Her area of ​​management included the program fields of education, society, culture, international understanding, the foundation representation in Berlin and the foundation's communication. The most important initiatives of her term of office include the German School Prize and the German School Academy, as well as the Robert Bosch Academy. Hamm left the foundation in 2015 when he reached the age limit. Her successor was Uta-Micaela Dürig .

In 2016, Hamm founded the non-profit organization Global Perspectives Initiative together with Stephan Balzer . As managing partner, she supports the goals for sustainable development of the United Nations and the topic of development cooperation through projects, events and studies. Migration and Africa are other key issues.

She lives and works in Stuttgart and Berlin .

Hamm has been a member of the board of trustees of the Karl Schlecht Foundation since 2016 . She is also a member of the University Council of the University of Tübingen . and as an elected member supports the German Committee for UNICEF. She is a member of the board of the Stuttgart Community Foundation . as well as the board of trustees of DRF Luftrettung From 2008 to 2013 she was a member of the management board of the European Foundation Center, 2011 its president.
