The Inland Revenue Department (IRD), in Māori Te Tari Taake , is a Public Service Department in New Zealand that is primarily responsible for the country's tax revenue.

history

The establishment of the Inland Revenue Department goes back to the year 1878, when with the Land Tax Act 1878 the colony of New Zealand was fiscally divided into different districts for the first time and the Land Tax Department was established for the central administration of tax revenues . Renamed the Property Tax Department in 1879 , the Land and Income Assessment Act 1891 changed the name again to Land and Income Tax Department . In 1952, then finally with the Inland Revenue Department Act 1952 , a merger with the Stamp Duties Department made and the Department received with Inland Revenue Department its final name.
