The Ministry for Environment , in Māori Manatū Mō Te Taiao , is a ministry and Public Service Department in New Zealand that deals with all environmental issues in the country, in terms of air, land, sea, fresh water, urban space, Atmosphere and climate is responsible.
Legal basis and task
With the Environment Act 1986 , the Ministry was established in 1986 and with it the Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment , its commissioner appointed by the Governor General on the recommendation of the House of Representatives for five years independently audits and controls the process of environmental management in New Zealand. The Ministry goes to work with the Minister for Environment , gives recommendations and supports him in his decisions. With its reports and expertise, it also supports the government, the authorities of the country and other public service bodies.

The Ministry is part of the so-called Natural Resources Sector , a facility in which the Chief Executive Officer (managing director) from

Form a management team for the creation and support of laws for the protection of natural resources.
The Ministry also collaborates with the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority , the Environmental Protection Authority , the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade , the Ministry of Transport , the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment and the local governments and administrations of the 11 Regional Councils , of the 61 Territorial Authorities (11 City Councils and 50 District Councils ) and the six Unitary Councils .
