Inquisivi is a town in the La Paz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia . It was named the capital of the newly founded province of Inquisivi on November 2, 1884 by General Narciso Campero .

Location in the vicinity

Inquisivi is still the seat of the administration of the province of Inquisivi and the central place of the Municipio Inquisivi . The village is located at an altitude of 2763  m on a ridge on the Rio Khalu near the village of Quime .

geography

Inquisivi is located on the eastern slopes of the Quimsa Cruz Cordillera , between the Bolivian Altiplano in the west and the Amazon lowlands in the east. The region has a distinct time-of-day climate in which the daily temperature fluctuations are greater than the seasonal fluctuations.

The mean average temperature of the region is 10.5 ° C (see climate diagram Quime), the monthly average temperatures fluctuate between 7 ° C in June / July and just under 13 ° C in November / December. The annual precipitation is almost 600 mm, from May to August there is a dry season with monthly precipitation below 15 mm, in the months of January and February there is a long-term average between 120 and 130 mm of rain.

Transport network

Inqusivi is located at a distance of 270 kilometers by road southeast of La Paz , the capital of the department of the same name.

From La Paz, the paved national road Ruta 3 leads east to Unduavi , and from there Ruta 25 south-eastwards 210 kilometers to Inquisivi and further towards Cochabamba . In Inquisivi, the route 109 branches off in a south-westerly direction , crosses the Serranía de Sicasica and ends in Konani at route 1 , which connects the cities of La Paz and Oruro .

The region has a high proportion of indigenous Aymara population, in the Municipio Inquisivi 86.9 percent of the population speak Aymara .
