The film was shown in cinemas in the Netherlands and Belgium from December 14, 2017. The American premiere was on January 21, 2018 at the Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah . The Dutch TV station NTR broadcast a shorter version of the film. The film was nominated for a Golden Calf for best music at the Nederlands Film Festival . The film is a poetic essay about four people whose lives are connected by their love for the Polaroid instant film. A common thread in the film is the Japanese expression Wabi-Sabi, which refers to the beauty of imperfection. In a visual roller coaster ride, the film tells how these people keep the Instant Dream alive. A number of characters are at the center of the film: German photographer Stefanie Schneider from California, American chemist Stephen Herchen, who is working on reinventing the Polaroid formula, and New York-based Christopher Bonanos, an editor for the New York Magazine and author of the book Instant; The story of Polaroid . The inventor of the Polaroid process, Edwin Herbert Land , speaks through archive footage. There is also a Japanese girl who discovers her love for polaroid photography through photos on her smartphone . In addition, the German cult actor Udo Kier plays in several archive recordings, and you can briefly hear the voice of director Werner Herzog .

Recordings were made for the film in Twentynine Palms , New York City , Berlin , Tokyo , Düsseldorf and Enschede . Various ARRI Alexa cameras were used for the film recordings in 2K and 4K. The aspect ratio of the film is 2.39: 1 Cinemascope.
