The International Silvesterlauf Gersthofen (official name International LEW Silvesterlauf Gersthofen , after the main sponsor LEW ) is from TSV 1909 Gersthofen oriented, since 1967 to New Year's Eve taking place fun run in Gersthofen ( Augsburg district ).

The running route currently runs for around 2 km through the town of Gersthofen and then for around 8 km through the meadows of the Lech .

In addition to the actual New Year's Eve run, since 1969 there has been a New Year's Eve hike over approx. 10 km, since 1998 a speed run over approx. 300/600 m for 4- to 11-year-olds, since 1999 a school run over approx. 2 km and since 2004 Nordic walking over approx. 10 km.

  • 1967: 1st International New Year's Eve Run and March
  • 1968:
    • 1,363 participants
    • Route length shortened to approx. 9.6 km
  • 1969: Introduction of the general hiking class
  • 1970: Another change in the length of the route to approx. 10 km
  • 1975: For the first time, more runners than walkers compete
  • 1976: Introduction of a separate women's class
  • 1977: Introduction of a team classification in the New Year's Eve run
  • 1978:
    • Austria's elite walkers are at the start with the brothers Hans and Wilfried Siegele
    • A participant from Japan : Professor Yukinaga Yokoyama competes in the New Year's Eve run
  • 1982: Due to a lack of participation, walking can no longer take place
  • 1986:
  • 1988: Over 1,000 runners at the start for the first time
  • 1990: The 30,000th participant is welcomed
  • 1992: The four-time Olympic winner Emil Zátopek gives the starting signal
  • 1995: Konrad Dobler wins the New Year's Eve for the 10th time
  • 1998 Introduction of the Flitzilauf for 4 to 11 year olds
  • 1999:
    • Introduction of a separate school class for 10 to 15 year olds, the running route is the city tour
    • The trade magazine running pur describes the event as a "cult run".
  • 2004: Nordic walking introduced
  • 2006: 40th edition of the run
  • 2009: Introduction of a separate course for the school run
  • 2013: Introduction of chip time measurement
  • 2016: 50th run (with record number of participants: 1820 starters)
