annotation
  1. ↑ Calculated from apparent brightness and distance.

ι Antliae ( Iota Antliae , short ι Ant ) is the third brightest star in the constellation Air Pump with an apparent magnitude of 4.60 mag , not far from the border of the constellation Centaur . Nevertheless it appears to the naked eye only as a faint object. ι Antliae, whose distance from Earth is about 202 light years , has already left the main sequence and is today an orange giant star of the spectral class K0. Its diameter is about 11 times that of the sun ; from Earth, however, its angular diameter appears only about 0.0019 " . The process of burning helium takes place in its central region, and in the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram it belongs to the branch of the Red Clump Stars .
