Cybutryn , better known under the trade name Irgarol, is a chemical compound with a 1,3,5-triazine ring as its basic structure. It was used as a biocide and a fungicide .

use

Cybutryn inhibits the development of seawater and freshwater algae in concentrations between 0.01–0.1 mg · l −1 , which is why the compound was used as an algicide in underwater paints . According to the "Implementing Decision (EU) 2016/107 of the Commission of January 27, 2016 on the non-approval of Cybutryn as an old active ingredient for use in biocidal products of product type 21", its use as an anti-fouling product has not been approved since mid-February 2016.
