Irina Witaljewna Moschewitina ( Russian Ирина Витальевна Можевитина ; born July 22, 1985 in Ridder ) is a Kazakh biathlete .

Irina Moshevitina has been practicing biathlon since 1996 and took her first steps on the international stage at the Junior World Championships in the summer biathlon 2000 in Khanty-Mansiysk . Here she won the bronze medal with Viktorija Afanassjewa and Olga Dudchenko , the daughter of her coach Mikhail Dudchenko. Her next appearances at international tournaments were at the Junior World Championships in biathlon in 2001, also in Khanty-Mansiysk and in 2002 in Ridnaun . The best result was a sixth relay place in Ridnaun. In 2003, Moschewitna made her debut in Forni Avoltri in the European Cup. In a sprint race, she was 16. This year she also appeared for the first time at the Senior World Championships - again in Khanty-Mansiysk - and was 77th in the sprint.

In the 2003/04 season she made her debut in the Biathlon World Cup as 75th in the individual after good placements in the European Cup in Osrblie . The highlight of the season, however, were the Junior World Championships in Haute-Maurienne . Here she won gold in the pursuit and bronze in the sprint and individual. The 2004 world championships in Oberhof and the world championships in summer biathlon in Turin , including one lapping and one disqualification, were very unsatisfactory. Therefore, she had to start again in the European Cup in the 2004/05 season, immediately won the individual in Geilo and mostly occupied single-digit placements.

In 2005 she competed again at the Junior European Championships and won silver in the individual behind Paulina Bobak . At the end of the season she won a second European Cup with the sprint race in Gurnigel . At the following Junior World Championships in Kontiolahti , she finished eighth to eleven in all four races. Since the 2005/06 season, Moschewitina has been switching between the European and World Cup. The highlight of her senior career was a 19th place in the individual at the Biathlon World Championships 2007 in Antholz .
