Iris Rieg

Iris Rieg (born June 18, 1972 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ) is a German church musician , concert organist and composer .

Life

After graduating from high school, Rieg first studied school and Catholic church music in Stuttgart and Detmold . Later she passed her concert exam and diploma in organ. Formative teachers were u. a. Bernhard Haas , Gerhard Weinberger and Renate Zimmermann .

As a recipient of scholarships from the DAAD and Socrates , she was able to complete her training with Olivier Latry and Michel Bouvard at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris . Various master classes round off their studies. In addition, she dealt intensively with jazz. Iris Rieg won prizes at the international organ competitions in Fürth, Laubach, Linz and Brixen.

Between 2003 and 2011 she held church music positions in Düsseldorf and in the pastoral area of West Cologne . Since 2011 she has been working as a freelance lecturer, organist, pianist and teacher. Her repertoire focuses on the works of Johann Sebastian Bach and Max Reger , but also on the French symphonic organ literature.

As an organist and improviser she performed her concert activities e.g. B. to Paris (Notre Dame) , Brixen (Cathedral), Cologne (Cathedral) , Berlin (Cathedral) . She is a lecturer at the Archbishop's Music School of the Cologne Cathedral Choir and has been teaching at the University of Cologne since 2012 .
