Irma Silzer
Irma Silzer (born August 25, 1894 in Vienna , died January 25, 1974 in Tegna ) was an Austrian literary translator .
Life
Irma Silzer has lived in Tegna in Ticino since she fled Vienna with her family during the German occupation . In the 1950s and 1960s she translated numerous works of fiction from Dutch , English and French into German .
family
Silzer was married to Hermann (Ermanno) Silzer (1892 in Skotschau –1964 in Tegna), a concert violinist. One of his great-grandfathers was the painter Jakob Alt . The couple's only son was Georg Silzer, called Giorgino, he lived from May 27, 1920 to June 13, 2014, like his father, he was a concertmaster, a. a. the Städtische Oper Berlin had employed him as a soloist.
