Seal of the Abbess Irmingard II of Ummendorf

Irmingard II. Was of noble descent, the ancestral seat of her family was the place Ummendorf in Northern Thuringia .

Irmingard II received confirmation as abbess from Pope Boniface VIII on March 13, 1298.

During her reign, the abbess was forced to go into debt in order to cover the cost of the loan with regalia and the papal recognition interest of 1 mark silver , which the pen had had to pay since it was handed over to the papal chair by Gero . In order to be able to pay off the debts, she turned to the Convent in order to be able to spend part of the allodial goods of the monastery on fief. She was allowed to do this in relation to 8 hooves in Badeborn . (CDA II, 587 no.843). During her tenure, she tried to increase the abbey's possessions again, as can be seen from the documents on hand.

On August 11, 1299, she and the chapter of the monastery were excommunicated by the abbot Johannes of the monastery of Ballenstedt , because the latter refused to recognize Jutta von Oesede as provost of the monastery. How the whole thing was settled is not documented, but Jutta von Oesede was elected abbess in 1324.

The last known document from her dates from September 14th, 1307. The year can possibly also be assumed as the year of her death. Her successor was Hedwig IV.
