The Irpin ( Ukrainian Ірпі́нь ; Russian Ирпе́нь / Irpen) is a right tributary of the Dnepr in Ukraine .
geography
The Irpin has its source in the northwestern foothills of the Dnieper highlands . It initially flows in an easterly direction and passes the place Kornyn . He later turns to the northeast and picks up the Unawa from the right. It continues its course about 20 km west of Kiev now in a northerly direction. It flows through the city of the same name Irpin and finally reaches the Kiev reservoir . The Irpin has a length of 162 km. Its catchment area covers 3340 km².
history
The momentous Battle of the Irpen took place on the river in 1321 , in which the Lithuanian armed forces were victorious over the combined armed forces of the southern Russian principalities.
